This image represents my own journey through motherhood — The Babes Bound for Heaven.
The empty cribs for babies who never came home.
The tiny handmade clothes left unworn.
The toys that were never played with.
There were seasons where I felt pulled along without control — like a bird in a cage, able to see the world she longed for but never reach it.
Crumpled. Forgotten.
Countless hospital stays blurred together, and I waited — as though for a bell to ring, to signal it was finally my turn.
I waited for that rainbow to brighten the storm.
For life to breathe into the pages that had gathered dust.
For the babies who never made it home to the arms and siblings who were waiting.
When I was just 18 years old, freshly married I never dreamed that my motherhood journey would be the one that I walked.
I planned on becoming a PE teacher, in my final subjects of my Bachelor of Education I suffered my first miscarriage. Shortly after I got really sick and had to defer out of university.
After several more miscarriages and what felt like hundreds of hospital trips I was diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome, an immune condition that causes blood to become sticky and clot together. 1 very complicated pregnancy later, I finally held my first baby in 2012. It was then that i knew this hobby I had would become so much more; She may have been our only baby and I wanted to preserve every beautiful moment of it.
After several more miscarriages, I was further diagnosed with Lupus, a condition in which the body attacks its own healthy tissues and cells. Eventually with a total of 6 known miscarriages (undoubtedly there were more) we completed our family in 2018 with baby #5
My journey into and through motherhood led me here. Passionately preserving every good and beautiful moment that is the seasons of life.
Family is my greatest blessing, and I strive to photograph as many beautiful family moments and connections as I can. Photographing Newborns right through to Multi generational images. Because Family is EVERYTHING
